Call for Submissions: Radio Canada International & Arirang Korea Smartphone Film Festival

Radio Canada International is looking for new talent in 2012 and invites all Canadian college and university students to produce an 30 minute or less short film that will be part of Radio Canada International’s RCI Vision Website. Bear witness to the social, cultural, demographic and artistic transitions taking place across the country by submitting your cinematographic post card. Some examples? A film about internal and physical migrations or your integration in a new place? About exile, identity, intertwining cultures, mixed couples? Tell us about yourself, about your parents, about your roots ! Or still yet, produce a short work about a Canadian personality whatever their discipline might be. And choose your genre: Fiction, report, documentary, animation, portrait, experimental. The screen is yours!  Submissions  deadline: May 31, 2012. A week ago we blogged about a new event that RA filmmaker and Director of A Drummer’s Passion Mingu Kim was working on.  The Arirang Korea Smartphone Film Festival is looking for short videos by Canadian residents, 4 min max and made entirely on a smartphone.  The video must contain a narrative of Korean content and/or a Korean person playing a key role in production (e.g. director, producer, editor, actor, etc…).  They have just extended their deadline to this Sunday April 22 @ midnight.  Sweet prizes include $1500 cash and a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.  Download the submission form here.
