The curatorial team of Marcin Wisniewski & Chris Dupuis, aka RTcollective, are accepting submissions now thru May 2 for a show in association with Videofag Gallery & Trinity Square Video. This annual show, now in its second year, will be presented on May 26 & 27, during this year’s Toronto Inside Out LGBT Film Festival.
The aim of IN YOUR POCKET is to explore how smart phones are changing the way we tell and record stories about ourselves and those around us. How does the immediacy and intimacy of mobile technology – and its challenges and limitations – shape the work we make? The theme for this year’s show is COME TOGETHER, and focuses on collaboration – specifically, artists collaborating for the first time, or collaborators working together in new ways.
Ontario-based artists are invited to create work with one or more collaborative partners, and you don’t have to be queer to participate, but the work must be 4 minutes or less & have clear LGBTTIQQ2S (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning or two-spirit) themes. It must be recorded on a smart phone or iPad (though editing can happen on a computer), and the work must not have screened previously in Toronto.
