On March 11, 2011, Japan was struck by the most powerful earthquake to have hit the nation, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties. As the 5th year anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami approaches, those affected in Japan and around the world are still healing. An estimated 25 tonnes of wreckage from the disaster, believed to have swept into the ocean, has started to appear on the shores and coasts of North America.
Toronto-based filmmakers Nicolina Lanni and Justin Choi’s first feature documentary, Lost & Found, captures stories spanning between two continents as strangers come together to salvage memories amidst the debris to return items to their rightful owners.
