Beauty or brains? Lily Prasad is gifted with both, and she’s ambitiously planned out her life path, along with that of her boyfriend Karim’s. But the plan is thrown into confusion when Karim becomes smitten by and runs off with the reigning Miss India National beauty queen.
Determined not to lose, Lily decides that she herself must become the new Miss India National. Ever calculating, she sizes up her competition, pegging Sonia for her top competitor in the field. If Lily is to triumph, however, she’ll have to do more than simply outsmart the other girls to demonstrate her commitment to tradition — talents must be learnt, dresses must be stolen, lies must be told and the competition must be crushed!
Miss India America is a tale of ambition, and what it means to win in both the South Asian community and at large. In the end, Lily will discover you’re not always a winner when you win, and there may be more to learn when you lose. – KE
