A Japanese indie phenomenon comes to Toronto! One Cut of the Dead went from two cinemas to sold-out screenings across the country and the #1 spot at the box office.
By turns a “making of” mockumentary, a zombie movie, a film industry satire and a hilarious warm-hearted comedy, One Cut of the Dead is something entirely unique and very special. Opening with a 37-minute, one-take shot in a run-down, abandoned warehouse, a film crew is making a very mediocre zombie film — then learn that this is no ordinary warehouse, but the site of shadowy military experiments. Suddenly, real zombies arrive and terrorize the crew! What may sound like the plot of a clichéd zombie film, One Cut of the Dead is anything but! This hilarious satire of indie filmmaking and charming, audience-friendly comedy is not to be missed. -JH
