Korean American filmmaker Jennifer Cho Suhr is currently raising funds to complete her new short film and thesis project Out There, a story of Ollie, an eight year old boy, who is abruptly abandoned by his mother and left with his deadbeat father, Carl, and teenage half-brother, Collum, in a strange, decrepit town haunted by the disappearance of a little boy. Reel Asian screened Jennifer’s short film Birthday at the festival last year as part of the Crossroads programme. Support her Kickstarter campaign here.
Last year Reel Asian was proud to present the world premiere of Pearls of the Far East by Toronto-based (and world traveling) filmmaker Cuong Ngo. Since then, this film has received much praise at festivals around the world. On August 3, it will screen at the Asian American International Film Festival in New York City. More events details here.
