3 days left, 3 To-Do lists, one for each day (as you are beginning to realize, my life is run off To-Do lists).
Chris, Tina, and I were in the office on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, and started off with a yummy lunch from Fresh.
I had a long list of emails to get out, specifically to National Bank to finalize some details for Closing Night, and to the board to update our Red Carpet plan. Chris and I also spend a few hours going over the ground transportation plan and making sure we had accounted for all the cash boxes moving from place to place, and the keys to various lock up places being handed off to the right people at the right time. These are the details that will drive me crazy if I’m trying to figure them out on the spot.
The next few days are going to be absolutely frantic, there’s no doubt about it, and probably no way of avoiding it. I remember so clearly asking both Deanna and Grace, former Reel Asian EDs, for their advice around this time last year. I wanted to know what I might be forgetting, or what they thought was the most important thing to worry about when it’s just a few days until the festival. It was my first year, so I really didn’t know what to expect. Their answers were totally different, and totally awesome. Deanna turned the question back on me and asked me what *I* was worrying about. I told her that I thought things were pretty organized and that we were in good shape. So she told me that in that case, I probably didn’t need to worry, and I should just focus on having a good time. She doesn’t believe when I say this, but this was so reassuring to hear. I feel the same way this year so I’m going to do the same thing – focus on staying relaxed and enjoying the experience.
Grace told me to make sure I had enough floats, because if you run out of change on the weekend it’s a real drag. Grace is so practical!!! This was great advice and I took it.
I’m working from home tomorrow and have a list the length of my arm – am going to start the day with a trip to No Frills to stock up on volunteer and Guest Services food!
