Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (Reel Asian) tours SUITE SUITE CHINATOWN, a special project from 2010 Reel Asian, to four cities in North America this Spring/Summer. This program will be seen in four cities thanks to the support of our presenting partners: San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, AmérAsia International Film Festival, Winnipeg Film Group and Asian Cinevision (Asian American International Film Festival).
SUITE SUITE CHINATOWN is a commission of new videos by Lesley Loksi Chan, Lillian Chan, Aram Siu Wai Collier, Heather Keung, Serena Lee, Howie Shia and Joyce Wong on the theme of “Chinatown” with music produced by Arthur Yeung. Responses to “what is your Chinatown?” are woven into a multi-genre cinematic vision where disposable materials take on mythic qualities, where family memories unfold in pixilated layers, and where Chinatowns can be turned on and off like a switch.
