WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPER, INTERACTIVE SERVICES

This will be an exciting year for TIFF as we present unique programming in our new home and the world’s premiere centre for film, TIFF Bell Lightbox.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto’s cultural history.

Reporting to the Enterprise Web Architect, Interactive Services, the Web Application Developer will be responsible for the maintenance of several web based software applications used to support seasonal functional requirements for the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.  This position will assist with maintenance of different sections within TIFF.NET, capturing user requirements and translating these requirements into high quality software solutions that are delivered according to the project plan and agreed target dates.

We’re looking for engaged team players who are ahead of the curve in new online trends. The ideal candidate shall possess a working knowledge of current web technologies, specifically those that are relevant in ASP.NET environments.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all development/maintenance activities are executed within established deadlines.

• Developing quality code, code documentation, and conducting required testing within project timelines.

• Acting as the main point of contact for departments in any matter related to the assigned applications.

• Following architectural guidelines in order to develop software solutions that are effectively integrated into tiff.net.

• Participating in the coordination of any project activities that require the input or feedback from other members of the Interactive Services team.

Contract Dates: May2 – September 23.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3 – 5 years web programming experience in .NET environments, working with web development teams to deliver high quality web-based software applications.

• Experience with SQL-Server database design and programming.

• Experience with core web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML.

• Excellent understanding of Content Management Systems(CMS), architecture of CMS (preferably with .NET)

• Experience building personalization portals, user web administration tools, and directory services applications is an asset.

• Experience in working with large projects spanning across departments.

• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Ability to multi-task, ensuring all deadlines met.

• Ability to work independently and within a team that strives for excellence.

• Adaptable to a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

This is an exciting year for TIFF as we present unique programming in our new home and the world’s premiere centre for film, TIFF Bell Lightbox.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto’s cultural history.

Reporting to the Sr. Publicist, the Communications Intern will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting in media relations and publicity efforts to promote TIFF’s programming. We are interested in applicants who have a specific interest in media and communications. This internship is an ideal opportunity for a student or a recent graduate of an applicable degree or diploma programme.

Responsibilities:

• Answer the main Press Office telephone line and respond to email inquiries

• Collect and distribute press clippings daily

• Maintain accurate Communications database records

• Research, edit, draft and disseminate publicity materials

• Communicate with media in a respectful and courteous manner

• Conduct research on communications-related matters, as required

• Work closely with team members to complete time-sensitive tasks

• Draft, edit and distribute internal company newsletter

• Assist with coordination and execution of various events.

Contract Dates: May 2 to July 29, 2011

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Public Relations, Corporate Communications or Cinema Studies degree or diploma programme

• Superior oral and written communication skills (writing samples may be requested)

• Exceptional interpersonal skills

• Ability to meet tight deadlines

• Ability to work well individually and with a team

• Excellent phone manner

• High computer proficiency (Microsoft Office experience preferred, knowledge of g-mail, databases and Internet)

• Familiarity with TIFF and its activities

• Interest in film is an asset

• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
