Working at Hot Docs, more awards for Redress Remix, and an Asian P.O.V.

Tina Zafreen Alam, most recently Reel Asian’s ace Print Traffic and Guest Services Coordinator, has taken up a new position as Programming Assistant at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. The next edition of Hot Docs is set to unspool April 28-May 8, 2011. Best wishes on your new gig, Tina!

Congratulations to the team at Stitch Media, producers of Redress Remix, which won the TSV Visionary Video Award for director Lesley Loksi Chan at last month’s Reel Asian. The website component for Redress Remix picked up the Best Education/Reference Interactive award at Applied Arts Magazine’s Best Interactive Awards on Nov 24 and the Best in Canadian Culture award at the Canadian New Media Awards (CNMAs) on Dec 1.

Asian Canadian writer and filmmaker Allan Tong, who produced our very first Industry Series back in 2006, has an article reviewing film schools in Quebec and Atlantic Canada in the Winter 2010 issue of P.O.V. Magazine.  Tong’s article is part of the magazine’s annual school survey of film programmes in colleges & universities across Canada.  The issue is on newsstands now.
