Call For Volunteers – Friends of South Asia Committee at the ROM

See below for ROM’s Friends of South Asia Committee call for volunteers.

Are you passionate about South Asian history, art and culture? Do you love looking at authentic artifacts and imagining the stories they tell? Would you like to get involved? Then we want to hear from you!

The Friends of South Asia (FSA) Committee is a group of dedicated volunteers at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). We work alongside the curator and the collection to deepen understanding and appreciation of the diverse and rich history of South Asian art and culture. Founded in 1990 and now affiliated with the membership department, we create links between the FSA and the wider community through programming and social media.

The FSA committee is looking for dynamic, committed individuals of all ages and backgrounds who would like to share their skills and enthusiasm for South Asian culture. Ideally, you are someone who loves the ROM, has attended ROM and/or FSA events and sees its potential. We are currently recruiting volunteers to work on the executive: secretary, communications coordinator, and project managers.

We require a volunteer commitment of two years. We meet once per month – in the vicinity of the ROM — for roughly one hour and there are approximately ten hours per month of other duties (as fits your post). We also host fun and interesting events a few times per year that you’ll attend. You will also be required to hold a membership at the ROM that gives you unlimited entrance to the museum and special exhibits, and extra benefits such as a gift shop discount.

If you’d like to share your skills, ideas and time with us, please drop us a line:
