May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada!
For the final week of Asian Heritage Month, we look at the talent in front of the camera. You may have seen them on our red carpet at Reel Asian 2018.
Actor, Dear Ex
Biography: 37-year old award-winning actor, Roy Chiu, entered the entertainment industry in 2002 with his first starring role in the Taiwanese television series, Starry Starry Night. He has since appeared in over 30 television series and more than 10 films, being nominated and winning awards for his roles in Office Girls and Marry Me, Or Not. His performance in Dear Ex gave him his first Golden Horse Award nomination for Best Actor.
On the Horizon: Roy was recently seen as the lead in the Chinese television series, 让我听懂你的语言 (Let Me Understand Your Language). He will be starring in two films coming out in 2019, 江湖無難事 (roughly translated as No Conflicts in Jianghu) and 第九分局 (Ninth Branch).
Actor, Tomorrow is Another Day
Biography: Ling Man-lung graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts and was a full-time member of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, appearing in over 45 stage productions with the group over the past 10 years. Tomorrow is Another Day is his on-screen debut, generating him a Best Actor nomination and a win for Best New Performer at the 2018 Hong Kong Film Awards.
On the Horizon: 2019 is a busy year for Ling Man-lung, as he will be appearing in numerous films, including: A Witness Out of the Blue starring alongside Louis Koo and Louis Cheung; the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; and Shock Wave 2 starring Andy Lau and Lau Ching-wan. He will also be the lead in the upcoming film adaptation of a Hong Kong online novel, Missing.
