Arvin Chen’s newest work Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? is a whimsical film about Weicheng who struggles with a secret he has hidden for years. Starring Lawrence Ko, who you may remember as the orange suited wannabe gangster from Au Revoir Taipei (Reel Asian 2010). Arvin’s newest film recently screened at Berlin, Hong Kong International Film Festival.
RA filmmaker Luo Li takes a chapter from the popular Chinese novel Journey to the West and re-imagines it in modern China with a petty gangster and corporate calligrapher in his latest work Emperor Visits the Hell. Reel Asian screened Luo’s Fly in 2004 and co-presented his Rivers and my Father at Images in 2011. Emperor Visits the Hell was recently screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival, Rotterdam, MOMA and will be presented at the Hong Kong International Film Festival this week.
