Last night was a bit of a sleepless one – too much on my mind to be able to relax! I’ve been keeping a notepad next to my bed so that I can scribble down thoughts that come to me as I’m trying to fall asleep, but I awoke this morning to notes like: “Gina – volunteers” and “Tina – badges”. Gina is our volunteer coordinator. Tina is organizing our badges. These notes were USELESS. As Joyce pointed out, I might as well have written “Sonia – Reel Asian”. I clearly need a new system.
One thing I love to do is start my day with a fresh to-do list.
9:30 – Re-write my to-do list
10:00 – Call HKETO to see if we can arrange a last minute press conference for Clement Cheng on Tuesday the 9th (opening night) – poor Clement only arrives at 6am that morning and he already has two interviews that morning. So goes the life of an international movie star.
10:30 Follow up with presenters for the Nov 14 Awards Ceremony – introduce them to our stage manager Scott, make sure they have the info they’ll need
11:00 Finalize all the airport pickups and drop offs. We’ll have 2 cars going during the festival but all the pickups and dropoffs seem to be coinciding. Had to call in a few favours with friends to make sure we’re covered. Convince Jason to help us out with Clement’s 6am pickup and interview in Scarborough.
11:30 Talk to VK about recent and upcoming press coverage – Toronto Sun today, Toronto Star on Friday, Globe & Mail next week.
12:00 Go through slideshow content with Joyce, assemble the ads for the slideshow
12:30 Lunch. Watch Joyce’s SUITE SUITE CHINATOWN fine cut. Be blown away as always with Joyce’s work (just wait ’til you see her short doc from Kenya)
12:45 Look at National Bank’s promo spot – suits us and them perfectly.
1:00pm Review accreditation process with Tina – need to have the full list by tomorrow so that I can cross-reference my eblast.
2:00pm Update the minute-by-minute. Didn’t take long because our meeting on Tuesday went pretty well… or so it seemed anyway! Still have to figure out how some of the big stuff like the boxes ofdelegate bags are going to get over to Innis. Chris and I will have to re-work on Saturday.
4:00pm Re-send Opening Night reception invitations to the filmmakers so that we can plan for the Red Carpet
5:00pm Go over Opening Night reception logistics and ticket allocation with Chri
5:30pm Go over Sam’s festival schedule with her
5:45pm Christine comes over with 2010 festival merch – can’t wait to wear my new RA shirt!
6:00pm Change into high heels and head to the Canadian Centre for Diversity Awards Gala – invited by Du-Yi our former board member now at CTV. Jot down notes for my speech on Opening Night. Still have to write that one, and Centrepiece, and Industry Reception.
9:00pm Call the Public to arrange a visit on Friday to check the menu for the Closing Night reception. No luck.
9:30pm Meet the Regent Park FF team at Lord Dufferin School and go over to Dominion for the party
11:30pm Home. Check email – nothing urgent. Might pack it in. No more nighttime notes!
TO DO tomorrow:
-go over Opening Night reception plan and hospitality budget with Heather
-write Opening/Closing/Industry speech notes
-send out Closing Night reception invites
-confirm Friday’s visit to the Public
-bank to pay remaining rental fees
-plan for Friday’s All-Hands meeting with Chris
