The current government’s recently announced funding cuts to the arts have been on the minds of many lately. A townhall meeting September 3rd was organized by Heather Haynes and Izida Zorde of Fuse magazine to discuss this issue and to unite the arts community in their response to the Harper government and over $45 million in cuts.
The reponse has been swift with the Canadian election looming. Darren O’Donnell and Greg Alstrand have formed the Department of Culture, whose mandate is to raise awareness on the cutback crisis, and more importantly to oust the Conservative government on October 14th.
