DEAR EX: MAG HSU (Co-Director), ROY CHIU (Lead Actor)
Hot off the trails of recently being nominated for eight Golden Horse Awards, co-director Mag Hsu and star Roy Chiu will join us at #ReelAsian22’s Opening Night Gala and Party. TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY: LING MAN LUNG (Lead Actor)
Winner of Best New Performer at the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards for his debut film role in Tomorrow is Another Day, Ling Man Lung is an accomplished stage actor who appeared in over 30 productions since 2007. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts and was a recipient of the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Scholarships. Ling will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening. INUYASHIKI: SHINSUKE SATO (Director)
After finding success as a scriptwriter, Shinsuke Sato made his directorial debut with Love Song in 2001 and followed up with multiple commercial hits like The Princess Blade, Sand Clock, Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror, Gantz, Gantz Perfect Answer, and I Am a Hero, a manga adaptation about humans struggling to survive a zombie holocaust. Kulap Vilaysack co-hosted the comedy podcast Who Charted? on the Earwolf Network from 2010-2018. Vilaysack’s acting work includes a recurring role as “Nurse Kulap” on the Adult Swim series Childrens Hospital
ULAM: MAIN DISH: ALEXANDRA CUERDO (Director)
In addition to enjoying some great food from Lamesa Filipino Kitchen alongside this delicious documentary, director Alexandra Cuerdo will be in attendance for a Q&A. Cuerdo was recently named one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women In the World by the Filipina Women’s Network. As a content producer and editor, Cuerdo’s videos for BuzzFeed have garnered over 200 million views and over 1.5 million shares on Facebook. Get tickets here.

Kenneth Bi returns to Reel Asian, having previously opened the festival with his feature, The Drummer, in 2008, where it also won Tony Leung Ka Fai Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Horse Awards. Other films from recent years include the topical social drama, Girl$, and the neo-noir suspense thriller Control, starring Daniel Wu, Simon Yam, Yao Chen and Leon Dai. HARI KONDABOLU (Keynote)
Reel Asian is launching our first festival keynote speaker with American comedian, writer, and podcaster, Hari Kondabolu, producer of the critically acclaimed documentary The Problem with Apu. Hari was named one of Variety’s Top 10 Comics To Watch and GQ India’s Comedian of the Year. He’ll be hosting the 46th International Emmy Awards show. Get tickets here.
