Meet Agnes Wong, the 2024 Festival Creative Artist

24 Jul, 2024

We are thrilled to introduce Agnes Wong, the festival creative artist for the 28th edition of Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, running from November 13–24, 2024!

In our commitment to uplift emerging Asian Canadian voices, we’ve partnered with OCAD University’s RBC Centre of Emerging Artists & Designers for this year’s artist to craft the visual identity for our 28th year. Read more about Agnes and enjoy her full animation, Image Lullaby, before every screening at this year’s festival.

Agnes Wong

She holds a BFA (Honours with Distinction) in Publications from OCAD University (2023) and has completed her propaedeutic studies at Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands. Artist Statement

This is a story that unfolds along a scrolling timeline. I am fascinated with the idea of exploring images as sound, as language, as music. In the world of IMAGE LULLABY, each and every image we see performs a sound. This work consists of fragments from the Reel Asian archives alongside images collected throughout my personal lived experiences. They imperfectly exist on their own in this vast digital landscape, yet their collective existence is contextualised together in harmony. In unison, they sing. All together, they form a bigger picture-creating something new: a story, a film festival, an image lullaby.
