Reel Asian is excited to announce that pioneering filmmaker and the LIFT's founding Chair, Keith Lock, is the inaugural recipient of the Fire Horse Award. Lock has been making films since 1969 and is considered one of Canada's first Chinese Canadian filmmakers.

Celebrate Asian Heritage Month with Reel Asian! For the entire month of May, the entire collection of Cheuk's Chinese Restaurants documentary series will be made available through Reel Asian's CineSend portal for FREE. Fifteen episodes are collected into five programmes of three episodes each.

In celebration of Reel Asian's 25th Anniversary, the festival commissioned three short works to be shown before each film during the festival. Made with their own interpretation of this year's theme, "Here for the Bigger Picture," we are proud to introduce the work of Sab Meynert, Leslie Supnet, and Kevin Pham.

Reel Asian is commissioning three original short animated videos to celebrate the landmark 25th festival based on our theme “Here For the Bigger Picture” which exemplifies the spirit of cinema and our endeavours for the future. The videos will be featured in the festival’s marketing and festival screenings in November 2021.
